明末清初名妓，清代作家徐震所作《美人谱》中称其“足当美人之目”，并将其与苏小小，琴操，红拂女等名妓相提并论，足见其容貌才情之非凡。

据传紫云为反清复明而藏身青楼，而非是普通的红尘女子。
